We know our climate is changing. The most accurate climate science available provides convincing evidence that climate change is real, that it is being caused by human activity, and that it will have significant impacts on Manitoba’s environment, economy and citizens. Climate change is not an intangible, or far-off issue – every indication is that it is happening now, and will become increasingly more challenging.
That is why Manitoba has developed a Made-in-Manitoba Climate and Green Plan. Released in 2017, the plan sets a bold new vision for Manitoba to become Canada’s cleanest, greenest, and most climate-resilient province. Grounded in Environment and Climate Change principles, the plan balances environmental and economic objectives to meet the needs of the present without compromising the needs of future generations.
The Made-in-Manitoba Climate and Green Plan proposes:
- Actions to mitigate Manitoba’s carbon emissions and transition Manitoba to a sustainable, low-carbon economy;
- Tools and strategies to help Manitoban’s prosper as we transition to a sustainable, low-carbon economy;
- Actions to conserve Manitoba’s wetlands and watersheds; and
- Actions to protect and promote Manitoba’s varied natural landscapes.
