Manitoba Environment and Climate Change provides information to assist business and government with planning and decision making that protects the social, economic and environmental well-being of Manitobans. This includes the provision of a wide variety of maps, including surveying, remote sensing, topographic mapping services and sales, as well as archived data and forecasts on forest fires, weather and droughts.
The department also has a geographical names program that offers a database of more than 24,000 active and heritage place names found throughout Manitoba. Each of those names reveals some aspect of Manitoba's cultural and natural heritage.
